Note:    William 'Bill' Paul Williamson
ST. JOSEPH - William "Bill" Paul Williamson, 65, of St. Joseph, beloved
husband, father, and grandfather, died Nov. 8, 2001, at Lakeland Hospital,
St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at First United
Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Court, St. Joseph. Officiating the service will
be the Rev. Wade Panse. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday,
Nov. 11, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St.
Joseph. Internment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be given to
American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church.
Bill Williamson is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" (Ochs) Williamson,
whom he married on June 18, 1955. Other surviving family members are their
four children - Jonathon (Pam) Williamson of Kalamazoo, Joyce (David) Finlay
of San Diego, Judith (Jeff) Hopwood of St. Joseph and Jennifer (James)
Cruickshank of Atlanta; and eight grandchildren - Brian and Christal
Williamson, David Jr., Amanda and Alexandria Finlay, Joel, Corey and
Christopher Hopwood.
Bill was born on July 10, 1936, to Bernard and Ruth (Sutton) Williamson in
Brooklyn, N.Y. Bill moved to this area in 1947 and graduated from Benton
Harbor High School in 1954. He retired from Allied Sign in 1992 as
Telecontrol Quality Specialist and was working at Peg Williamson Employment
Services.
Bill was an ardent fisherman and woodworker and also enjoyed camping and
traveling. Bill and Peg have been long-standing members of the First United
Methodist Church of St. Joseph. Bill was a member of the Southwestern
Michigan Woodworking Guild. He and Peg have also belonged to Blossomland
Vagabonds Camping Club for 35 years.
