Iinfantry near Priemern, Germany. Robert L. Finlay, Oregon, in the 84th Infantry Division; 1st combat seen on 11-9-44, and taken prisoner five days later, 11-14-44 near Priemern, GER. Marched deep into Germany, then taken by train (several days) to 1st POW camp, approx. 90 Km north of Berlin; later to another POW camp, Jan. 1945, near eastern front; Russians advancing toward Stettin, Poland. The POW Camp was bombed by Russians in middle of April 1945; Germans took POWs and marched them on road to avoid Russians. The German's abandoned the POWs on the road and he got separated from his group; Brits picked him up but couldn't find American line; very sick in Am. Hospital in Hamburg; war ended May 7, 1945, then met up with old outfit Company C, 334th, flown to France and sailed from LeHave, for USA. Awarded POW Medal.
